MA student Gyn Wylie has completed a Major Research Paper entitled “Displaced Heritage: Place Attachment, the Loss of Land, and the Effects on Community Identity.”
Adopting a ‘heritage from below’ approach, the project examines community perspectives on heritage after the mid-twentieth century construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway, which produced dislocations for the Mohawk communities of Akwesasne and Kahnawake and settler-colonial villages in southeastern Ontario. The research was co-supervised by Professors Susan Ross, from the School of Canadian Studies, and John Walsh, from the Department of History.
Congratulations on the completion of this original research, Gyn!
