Public History Night at the Bytown Museum:
Visit the oldest stone structure in Ottawa right in the heart of downtown!

‘Public History Night at the Museum’ is the ongoing Public History event series from CCPH spotlighting different museums and new opportunities for cultural heritage and public history in Ottawa.

Time/Date: Wednesday September 24, 2025 starting at 4pm ET (NOTE: early start time)
Location: Bytown Museum, 1 Canal Lane, Ottawa ON, K1P 5P6
Registration Required (Y/N): no – however, tour will be limited to 15 attendees so please arrive on time!
Event Cost: FREE – Admission will be free to Carleton students and CCPH members attending

Who can attend: Open to Carleton University undergraduate and graduate students and faculty interested in Public History. Open to history students/faculty, anthropology students/faculty, sociology students/faculty, curatorial studies students/faculty, journalism students/faculty and any student/faculty interested in learning more about public history in practice via museum education and special collections. Also open to CCPH members. 

Event Plan: The tour will start in the Bytown Museum library shortly after 4pm and then continue through the museum for special tour lead by Chloe Dennis, Bytown Exhibitions and Collections Manager and also Carleton M.A. in Public History alum. The tour will last 90 minutes including a question and answer period with Museum staff.
