Lucy Boyd is a student in the M.A. Public History program at Carleton. She holds a B.A. in History and Early Modern Studies from the University of King’s College, Halifax. Her research interests include commemoration, religious history, disability history, and women’s and gender history. In her current project, she is researching the “afterlives” of three former Catholic Churches in Ottawa and examining the re-purposing of these formerly sacred spaces within the context of provincial heritage legislation. Lucy has previously worked as a historical researcher for Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and for the SSHRC-funded research group Counter-Memory Activism.
