Scott is a Ph.D. candidate in Public History at Carleton University, Ottawa. His research explores scholarly processes in Byzantine Studies, focusing on methodological and theoretical practices at the nexus of archaeology, numismatics, digital humanities and public history. His dissertation asks: What does this ‘Byzantine’ Coin mean? It proposes that postcolonial critique and theory can disrupt traditional notions of knowledge production and meaning-making for the public reception of East Roman coins (498-1453). Scott’s dissertation research also explores  Personal Knowledge Management software for open-access notes and its potential application in numismatics research, numismatic digital accessibility, and open-access approaches to scholarly research. He holds an MA in Greek and Roman studies from the University of Calgary (Supervisor: Dr. Marica Cassis), a BA(Hons) and a Diploma in Ancient Worlds from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Scott participated in the Çadır Höyük Archaeology Project in Yozgat Province, Turkey, from 2016 to 2019 and since 2022, has been the Byzantine Numismatics Research Associate for the Inhabiting Byzantine Athens project (University of Virginia/Athenian Ancient Agora Excavations). Scott also participated in the Computational Creativity and Archaeological Data Project (Carleton University).
