Nanzan University Center for Japanese Studies (CJS) Visiting Faculty Program is accepting applications for the 2023 Spring Semester and the 2023 Summer Program.

Nanzan University invites from among its partner schools faculty members in the field of Japan Studies to teach at least one class in the CJS and to carry out his or her research in exchange for remuneration for courses taught and a modest stipend.

Eligibility

Faculty members from partner institutions in the field of Japan Studies

Value and Duration

100,000 yen stipend per month; this is to cover both travel and living expenses. No additional funding for travel to and from Japan will be provided by the University.

Accommodation will not be provided by Nanzan University but will be the responsibility of the visiting scholar.

Remuneration for the course(s) taught (from 310,000 to 360,000 yen per semester for each course for a typical three-credit course, depending upon teaching experience and academic rank).

2023 Spring Semester: January 2023 to May 2023 (five months, one person)
2023 Summer Program: June 2023 to July 2023 (two months, one person)

  • CV
  • Proposal of course to offer at Nanzan
  • Description of research project to carry out at Nanzan
  • Description of future contribution at home university
  • Letter of recommendation from Chair/Director or Dean
