The mission of the CTSS is to encourage and promote specialized research and culturally diverse discussions with a transatlantic perspective. It provides faculty and students with a unique multicultural environment to aid personal, professional, and academic development. CTSS offers an International Studies program every spring that takes place at Instituto Franklin-UAH.
The program has a comprehensive international nature since it involves professors and students from different universities around the world. All courses explore specific topics from an international perspective. In addition, instruction takes place in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain, so participants will have a unique experience of in-depth immersion into the country’s customs, traditions, language, and culture.
The program is offered to students during the 2025 spring semester, and is divided into three block sessions, of which each block is between 3-4 weeks. Faculty will only need to be in Spain for that time. Courses are instructed in an intensive format from Monday through Thursday, and must fulfill a total of 45 hours (3 credits).
Each block will include 3 courses, and students much choose 1 course within that block. Courses are instructed in English. All students are enrolled in an “Introduction to Spain” course.
