The call for “Sustainable Colombia”, a blended intensive program for summer 2026, is now open. The BIP includes a 2 month virtual course (March 16 – May 1) and a 2 week in-country field school (July 6-17). The program is offered by the Colombia Challenge Your Knowledge (CCYK) consortium and is available to CCYK partners, including the Canada and Latin America Research & Exchange Opportunities (CALAREO) consortium in Canada. As a member of CALAREO, Carleton undergraduate students as well as faculty/staff may apply to the program by completing the Google form at https://forms.gle/nhpBGuV78hw7uitt8. (Canadian applicants should not apply directly to CCYK). The internal application deadline is January 28, 2026.
Anyone may participate in the free virtual course. To be able to participate in the field school, the virtual course must be completed. There is a program fee of USD $500 for the field school. Please note that to participate in the field school, health insurance that includes repatriation is mandatory.
Funded by ICETEX, travel scholarships are available through CCYK for 2 students and 1 faculty/staff member for all of CALAREO. CALAREO will contribute an additional 2 scholarships. Scholarships will cover international and domestic transportation, accommodations, and meals. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship may still participate if they can self-fund.
