About this map
It includes information about (1) MOUs, (2) Visiting Scholars and (3) Award Recipients managed by Carleton International only. This map is offered for general information purposes to support Carleton University’s international priorities. Faculties and other units might have additional international linkages not recorded here. For any questions regarding its validity and use, please contact Carleton International (below).

  1. MOUs: It displays active agreements (as per August 2019) which are categorized as Partnership, Funding, Academic, Mobility and Joint Research initiatives.
  2. Visiting Scholars: It displays incoming visiting scholars from 2013 to 2019. Categories include:
    • Student Researcher: an individual who is registered as a student in a degree granting program at an institution abroad and who is invited to conduct research in collaboration with or under the supervision of a faculty member host at Carleton University.
    • Visiting Professor: a professor who holds rank or, if retired, held rank at another university and is normally on temporary leave from a permanent position at that university (if not retired) and is invited to conduct research in collaboration with or under the supervision of a faculty member at Carleton University.
    • Research Associate: an individual invited to conduct research in collaboration with or under the supervision of a faculty member host at Carleton in an areas of established expertise (receive a salary).
    • Visiting Scholar: an individual who is normally on temporary leave from a permanent position at another organization or institution and is invited to conduct research in collaboration with or under the supervision of a faculty member host at Carleton in an area of established expertise. The appointment is typically made with specified start and end dates.
    • Short term visits: visits of 5 days or less for the purpose of meetings, conferences or events.
  3. Award Recipients: It displays non Tri-Council agency and government funding for research and mobility (e.g. Mitacs, GAC), including both inbound and outbound programs.
