Trent Abbott

Resilience Professional, Crisis/Business Continuity Management Consultant

Trent Abbott, B.A., MBCI, is a resilience practitioner with nearly 20 years of diverse work experience in Canada’s public and private sectors, as well as internationally. Trent’s activities spanned across operations, planning, program delivery, policy development/advice and portfolio management related to the domains of emergency, business continuity, crisis, security and risk management, as well as critical infrastructure (CI) resilience.

From January 2020 to April 2022 Trent was a faculty member (contract instructor) of Carleton University’s Infrastructure Protection and International Security (IPIS) Masters program. A career highlight for Trent was guiding his students on emergency and business continuity management during Covid-19.

Trent recently retired from the Government of Canada (GC) after 30 years of service. Some of his resilience-oriented roles were with Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC)- Department of National Defence; Public Safety Canada; and Treasury Board Secretariat.

As an established resilience professional in the private sector, Trent now works with diverse clients to help them establish resilience programming. This includes organizational assessments, program development, exercises, training and personal mentoring.
