Position Title: Knowledge Translation & Video Communications

Project Overview

The National Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection, Security and Resilience (NC-CIPSeR) is at the forefront of adopting innovative approaches to disseminate critical infrastructure protection (CIP) research findings. A key component of our knowledge translation strategy is the development of short, informative videos. These videos are designed to transform complex CIP research findings into accessible, engaging content for a broad audience, including policymakers, industry leaders, stakeholders, and the general public.

Why It Matters

In an era where information overload is common, making research findings accessible and understandable is crucial for informed decision-making and effective policy development. Our video communications initiative aims to leverage visual storytelling, concise explanations, and real-world examples to highlight key research insights, emerging threats, and practical recommendations for enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructure.

Job Description

As the Knowledge Translation & Video Communications Intern, you will play a pivotal role in developing and producing video content that communicates complex research findings in an engaging and accessible manner. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national security efforts, develop professional skills in multimedia communications, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Collaborate with researchers to translate complex research findings into clear, engaging video scripts that highlight key insights and recommendations.
  • Video Production: Manage the end-to-end production of video content, including storyboarding, filming, editing, and post-production.
  • Creative Direction: Provide creative direction to ensure that video content is visually engaging, adheres to NC-CIPSeR’s brand guidelines, and effectively communicates research findings.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders and researchers to ensure that video content meets their needs and effectively communicates key messages.
  • Distribution Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing a distribution strategy for video content, leveraging social media, websites, and other digital platforms to maximize reach and impact.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a program in Communications, Multimedia, Film Production, Journalism, or a related field. Or demonstrated experience.
  • Skills: Strong storytelling, scriptwriting, and video production skills. Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to translate complex information into engaging, accessible content.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion: A keen interest in national security, critical infrastructure protection, and resilience.
