Older Adult Decline and Driving, Project Management
Dr. Wallace is currently the Executive Director of the AGE-WELL National Innovation Hub on Sensors and Analytics for Monitoring Mobility and Memory (SAM3); Adjunct Research Professor and Contract Instructor within the Systems and Computer Engineering Department, Carleton University and an Affiliated Researcher with the Bruyère Research Institute. His research expertise relates to the applications and Sensors and Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence techniques to assess well-being for older adults that are facing cognitive and physical declines associated with illness or aging. It includes applications to extend independence and delaying entry into care through supportive applications of technology and AI. A major focus has included the assessment and understanding of older adult driving behaviours. His research includes extensive collaborations with health sciences and medical researchers to bridge the gap between clinical/medical understanding and the application of engineering technology. Previously Dr. Wallace worked in the high tech sector for BNR, Nortel and Avaya for over 24 years. During this period, his responsibilities spanned hardware, software and system design roles through to research and development management roles and finally business, strategy and product management leadership roles. His work as a development manager and product manager including being the responsible project manager for many development projects including projects that included multidisciplinary hardware, software, mechanical and system engineering design team that not only spanned multiple Nortel/BNR locations but also included multi-company development work as key project elements were being designed by suppliers and their design engineers were integrated as part of the project team.
