On Wednesday June 16th, Professor Natasha Stirrett spoke before the Kingston City Council prior to their decision to remove a statue of Sir John A. McDonald from City Park and relocate it. This comes following requests from the activist group Revolution of the Heart and other members of the community to have the statue taken down. They have been stationed by the statue in City Park since June 10th, when they lit a sacred ceremonial fire. The group will remain there, with the sacred fire being lowered on Saturday.
