Carleton University is busily preparing for the launch of its 75th anniversary year on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. With one week to go, Peter Ricketts, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), and chair of the 75th Anniversary Steering Committee has invited the whole Carleton community to participate:

To all Members of the Carleton Community,

Come out and join members of the Carleton community to kick off the university’s 75th anniversary on Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Galleria. All students, staff, faculty and members of our community are invited to this celebration.

The festivities in the Galleria will include interactive, fun activities, and special displays celebrating Carleton’s history. There will be games, contests, prizes, giveaways, cookies and hot chocolate, and special VIP guests.

The formal program will take place between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m., concluding with a live music performance by Maestro Fresh Wes, a former Carleton student and Canadian hip hop legend.

Carleton University was founded by the community to serve the community, a guiding principle that today encompasses local, regional, national and international communities. Carleton’s successful past, dynamic present and promising future are embodied by the tens of thousands of alumni, students, faculty and staff who are motivated to make their world a better place.

The launch event is a great way to kick off year-long celebrations that honour all that Carleton has achieved and what can be accomplished when a university is committed to giving back through education while contributing to the common good.

Hope to see you there!
