Are you a the Bachelor of Data Science (B.D.S.) Honours student at Carleton University considering graduate studies in Data Science, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence?
The DSAAI Master’s Accelerated Pathway provides eligible students a chance to fast-track their graduate studies, enabling students to reach their academic and career goals sooner!
How it Works
- At the end of the third year of studies, students express interest in the DSAAI Accelerated Pathway by emailing the B.D.S. Undergraduate Advisors at ds.ug.advisor@carleton.ca to request an audit review. The Undergraduate Advisors will confirm if the student has room on their audit to participate in the DSAAI Accelerated Pathway, and submit a request to the Graduate Director for the student to participate in the program.
- The DSAAI Graduate Director will review the student’s audit and notify the student if they’ve been admitted to the DSAAI Accelerated Pathway.
- Accepted students are encouraged to take DATA 5000 and/or DATA 5001 (as they are required courses in DSAAI), but may take up to 1.0 credit in graduate-level COMP, MATH or STAT courses listed on the DSAAI Approved Electives list. Students should consult with their undergraduate advisor regarding which program elements the courses may be used towards
- If the student wishes to pursue a Master’s in DSAAI at Carleton, they must apply by the application deadline (subject to change from year to year, historically in early-mid January). If admitted to a Master’s program in DSAAI, the courses (up to 1.0 credit) taken as part of the Accelerated Pathway will be counted towards the DSAAI program requirements through ‘Advanced Standing,’ provided the grades achieved are B+ or higher. Advanced Standing will reduce the required courses needed in the DSAAI program, typically resulting in students completing their graduate program at a faster pace.
Requirements for Eligibility to the Accelerated Pathway
- Third year Standing in the Bachelor of Data Science program with completion of required courses at the 3000-level and below.
- A Major GPA of at least 10.0
DSAAI Admission Requirements
Admission to, and participation in, the DSAAI Accelerated Pathway program does not guarantee a student admission to a graduate program in DSAAI. Any student interested in applying to a Master’s in DSAAI must meet all Admission Requirements as defined by the Graduate Calendar, and are encouraged to contact a Graduate Administrator (dsaai@carleton.ca) with any admission, or application related questions as required.
Note: Approved Accelerated Pathway students are not eligible to take graduate courses on a letter of exchange or letter of permission at other institutions. All eligible graduate courses must be taken at Carleton University.
