Decolonial Disability Studies Collective Kicks Off First Meeting of 2025-2026
The Decolonial Disability Studies Collective (DDSC) kicked off the academic year with an energizing first meeting, fostering collaboration as members shared knowledge and engaged in collective learning and unlearning to advance decolonial disability studies.
We are pleased to welcome two new members:
- Rachael Rosenberg, a first-year MA student in Human Rights and Social Justice at Carleton University, Canada.
- Yash Gupta, a Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate in the International and Interdisciplinary Research Training Group at the University of Bremen, Germany.
Looking ahead, DDSC has various upcoming initiatives:
- The launch of the Global South-CONNECT project website.
- Local fieldwork in India, scheduled for October 2025.
- ENGAGE Project Knowledge Mobilization Weeks in February 2026, bringing together researchers, activists, and young women and girls with disabilities from the Global South, and audiences around the world through a digital exhibition and online dialogue.

Our team members gathered via Zoom (Hoa Bui, Linh Dang, Thuy Nguyen, Phuong Tran, Emma Schlitt, Yash Gupta, Dana Corfield, Rachael Rosenberg, Nhi Truong, from left to right).
