This year AGU Annual Meeting took place in San Francisco, CA during the week of 11-15 December 2023. Simon Festa-Bianchet, Alexis Tanner, Matthew Johnson, Ellen McCole and Shona Wilde (from left to right) represented Team EERL and joined over 25,000 attendees from 100+ countries. We congratulate them on excellent presentations and engaging poster discussions!
GC14D-08: Prof. Matthew Johnson, EERL’s scientific director, kicked off this year’s conference with his invited talk ‘Using Source-Resolved Aerial Data to Create Measurement-Based Methane Inventories and Quantify Emission Intensities’, co-authored with Drs. Bradley Conrad and David Tyner (EERL)
A44D and A51L: Prof. Johnson also convened a poster session, presentations and discussion on ‘Emissions and Air Quality Impacts of Atmospheric Pollutants from Oil, Gas, and Coal Operations’ ;
A44D-01: Dr. Simon Festa-Bianchet, Postdoctoral researcher, presented his work on ‘In-Situ Measurements of Methane Emissions in Combustion Exhausts at Oil and Gas Facilities’ ;
A51L-2096: Ellen McCole, MSc candidate, presented her techno-economic analysis of abatement opportunities for measured-sources of oil and gas sector methane emissions in Saskatchewan ;
A51L-2104: Alexis Tanner, PhD candidate, presented a poster featuring her study of ‘Emission Rates of Methane, Soot, and NOx from Gas Flares Subjected to Crosswind’ ;
GC11I-0946: Dr. Bradley Conrad, Postdoctoral researcher, could not attend this year’s conference in person, but remotely presented a poster featuring his work entitled ‘The Problem with Basing Methane Mitigation Policy on Relative Reduction Targets: Insights from Aerial Surveys of Heavy Oil Sites in Western Canada’.
