Melina Jefferson is a Research Engineer at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Melina supports experiments conducted at the Carleton University Lab-Scale Flare Facility including: emissions from flowback flares, producing particulate matter and implementing solid-phase combustion product sampling procedures. Melina also aids in developing the flare experiment project at the Western University Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel. During her graduate studies, Melina’s work focused on flowback flare emissions which was subsequently developed into a large component of EERL’s Strategic Network: FlareNet. She also conducted research on NOx emission factors for industrial flares and participated in a field work campaign in Ecuador and Alberta to take the first simultaneous measurement of flare gas flow/composition and black carbon. Melina graduated from Carleton University with M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017.
