At a recent Travel and Expense Reimbursement System training session, the participants asked a number of great questions. In this week’s tip, I am sharing the answer to one of these questions … “Can I claim mileage within Ottawa in the Travel and Expense Reimbursement system?”
- You can claim mileage when using a personal vehicle to travel for Carleton University business within Ottawa. However, mileage from your home to your regular place of work is not an eligible expense and therefore cannot be claimed as mileage.
- When claiming mileage, it includes both gas and wear and tear on your vehicle. You cannot claim gas in addition to mileage.
