What is it?
Merchants are Carleton departments that accept credit/debit cards via an approved merchant account with the university’s exclusive provider. Carleton University allows credit card payments through POS terminals and e-commerce.
Why is it important?
Business Operations (Financial Services) handles setting up merchant accounts with the provider on behalf of departments. Departments should consider setup fees, monthly rental fees, transaction fees, and chargebacks before accepting card payments.
