What is it?
A fiscal year (or financial year or sometimes budget year) is the established 12-month period of time that the University uses for accounting and budgeting purposes, and preparing financial statements.
Why is it important?
It is important for the community to understand that more than one fiscal year may be relevant to their day to day operations.
- For the University as a whole, our fiscal year is May 1st to April 30th.
- For many research and other government grants received by the University, the fiscal year on which we report is April 1st to March 31st.
