Jacqui Ala is an Associate Professor of International Relations with a PhD in International Relations and an MEd (with distinction) in Higher Education. Her research focuses on the pedagogy and decolonization of IR curricula, Global South and African philosophies of IR theory, gender in International Relations, and Lusophone IR. She is the lead South African researcher in the Engendering Disability Inclusive Development partnership—a seven-year SSHRC-funded collaboration across Canada, Vietnam, Haiti, and South Africa examining disability, gender-based violence, and the localization of the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy. In her spare time, she explores the historical international relations of Al-Andalus.
