Xuan Thuy Nguyen

Dr. Xuan Thuy Nguyen is an interdisciplinary researcher, teacher, and community-based learner whose work centers on building decolonial spaces for disability studies and activism in transnational contexts. She mentors students, activists, and community organizers, and her research employs participatory arts-based methods to engage women and girls with disabilities in the global South.

She is Project Director of the SSHRC Partnership Development Project Learning with and from the global South (ENGAGE) [2021–24], collaborating with partners in India, South Africa, and Vietnam to support leadership and inclusive knowledge production. She also leads Transforming Disability Knowledge, Research, and Activism (TDKRA) [2016–20], co-investigates Engendering Disability-Inclusive Development (EDID) [2020–27], and received an International Research SEED Grant [2021–23] on inclusive North–South partnerships.

Her work appears in journals including Disability & Society, Disability and the Global South, and Girlhood Studies. She is the author of The Journey to Inclusion (2015).
