David Lafferty, PhD, is available to consult with graduate students and postdocs about the following professional development activities:

  • Articulating and cataloguing your skills
  • Researching the non-academic job market
  • Exploring alternative careers within academia
  • Recognizing and building your professional network
  • Identifying professional development “decision points”
  • Engaging in public scholarship
  • Preparing for the academic job market
  • Creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Sessions are 45 minutes, held in person or over Zoom.

Please note: if you are a graduate student completing a professional degree (as opposed to a research-based degree), your school or department may provide professional development services or advice. You may wish to speak with them first, because they will have knowledge that is more specific to your degree program.
