Foundations of Project Management II (Mitacs)

Foundations of Project Management I is a mandatory pre-requisite for this workshop. No exceptions will be made! You will not be allowed to attend if you have not completed this pre-requisite. This course uses the same binder of materials given to you in FPMI and it is your responsibility to bring this set of materials with you to this course.
Please note: this workshop will take place at the University of Ottawa. Carleton graduate students are welcome to register, but if you are a TA and would like this workshop to count toward your paid pedagogical training hours, it is your responsibility to make sure that your attendance is recorded by the instructor and to email david.lafferty@carleton.ca after the workshop to let us know that you attended.
This 2-day workshop provides an experiential, collaborative learning experience to enable participants to build on the principles of project management, team building, group dynamics and leadership identified and applied in Level I, while exploring key concepts in greater detail to further develop participants skills and knowledge in the area of project planning and management.
Participants will work in learning teams of approximately 5 people formed at the beginning of the two-day workshop. Building on the skills developed in Foundations of Project Management I: A team-based approach, this workshop will emphasize skills of risk assessment, estimation, budgeting, resource schedule crisis management and continued focus on participating, building and managing teams.
Cost: This workshop, as with all Mitacs workshops, is free for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. However, the preauthorization of a valid credit card is required as part of the registration process. A $50 penalty will be applied to all late cancellations (cancellations that are not made 5 days or more before the workshop date), no shows, or incomplete attendance. These penalties are only charged after the completion of a workshop and no charges are ever made to those who participate in full.
