Financial Skills: Boost Your Credit Score

This webinar will review the importance of credit scores and ways to boost them. You will learn how to obtain free credit reports and how improving your credit score can potentially save you hundreds of thousands of dollars. Finally, we will review how rent/mortgage deferral due to COVID-19 may impact your credit worthiness going forward.
Note: This webinar is also relevant for international students & newcomers to Canada, as it covers the basics of how credit scores function and how to boost them.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify important aspects of credit scores and how to obtain a free copy of your credit reports.
- Learn the steps to take to boost your credit score.
- Familiarize yourself with the potential impact of rent/mortgage deferral on your credit worthiness.
*Students attending the Budgeting & Expense Planning, Managing Your Debt, Boost Your Credit Score, and Introduction to Investing sessions in full will receive an official FCAC webinar participation certificate.
All graduate students and postdocs are welcome. If you are working as a TA, this session counts toward voluntary paid training hours, provided that you are working as a TA in the term when the training takes place.
