Hook Pile: A Novel Cast-In-Place Pile Foundation System
GRG has developed a new foundation system to improve the shaft bearing capacity of cast-in-place pile foundation systems. The new foundation system, Hook Pile, provides a novel technology to significantly increase load carrying capacity of cast-in-place piles by implementing hooks on the surface of the piles. The hooks are installed at the perimeter of the steel cages used in cast-in-place piles. The role of the hooks is to distribute the load reactions through transferring them from the pile shaft to the surrounding ground strata by creating a passive anchoring mechanism to the surrounding ground materials. Comparing the other types of enhancement approaches mentioned above, the hook system is expected to play a central and direct role in terms of pile-soil interface strength.
