PhD Research: Load transfer and creep behavior of pile foundations in warming permafrost
Amir is a PhD candidate who joined our group in Sep. 2019. He has conducted his M.Sc. research on constitutive modelling of soil behavior. Amir is actively involved in developing a model to predict load transfer and creep behavior of pile foundations in warming permafrost. His research project involves experimental model tests on pile foundations installed in ice-poor frozen soils and exposed to varying temperature. He is also developing a numerical model to further investigate performance of pile foundations in warming permafrost. This project aims to find possible adaptation solutions to address the effect of global warming on performance of pile foundations in cold regions.
