Magdalena Georgescu

Graduate Counsellor

Pronouns: She/Her

Role: Graduate Student Counsellor

Professional Designation: Registered Social Worker, RSW

Education: MSW

Magda primarily works with graduate students, and is also one of the facilitators of the Working with Emotions Group. She sees her counselling role as a means to help students contextualize their emotional experience by looking at their unique set of circumstances as well as their socially adapted response to life adversities.

Using an eclectic approach that incorporates elements of CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), and IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy), Magda aims to help students reduce shame and self-criticism, replacing these feelings with a more considerate attitude towards themselves. She focuses on assisting students to build a compassionate mind that will equip them with resilience and courage in the face of inevitable emotional afflictions. Magda has over 10 years of counselling experience and has a particular interest in therapy for narcissistic abuse.
