Dr. Farzam Sepanta holds a PhD in Building Engineering and worked with the Government of Canada to quantify emissions associated with offices, homes, transportation, and the internet.
Farzam was a member of the Human Building Interaction Lab (HBI) at Carleton University and his research focused on the comprehensive assessment of the energy impact of teleworking in different domains of transportation, residential buildings, offices, and information and communication technologies (ICT). With a specialization in decarbonization and human building interaction, he has authored more than 20 publications on energy optimization, occupant behavior, daylighting and optimum lighting, multi-objective optimization, and the intersection of virtual reality and education in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Additionally, he has appeared multiple times on different national and international media, and won multiple first-place awards in various competitions from Professional Engineers Ontario, the University of Toronto, and other organizations.
