Ben Earle is a PhD student at Carleton University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is working with Ericsson on a 5G project investigating downlink channel reconstruction from limited CSI feedback. Ben has focused his studies around simulation, control systems and machine learning and is excited by the opportunity to expand his knowledge into wireless communications.

Ben is working on a project titled, “Channel Reconstruction for LTE/NR Performance Verification.” His project is investigating machine learning approaches to wireless channel reconstruction for 5G systems. He aims to use limited channel state information, collected from UEs communicating over real networks, while reconstructing the channels for the purpose of simulation. Ericsson is helping him with the project by providing industry insight and access to real data collected in their labs.
