LERRN is pleased to announce that the Migration and Diaspora Student Society at Carleton University invites proposals to present at their upcoming Student Research Conference on Friday April 29, 2022. This one-day conference will be a virtual event via Zoom, with an optional in-person social event in the evening for those who are located in the Ottawa area (pending restrictions). MDS welcomes proposals from fourth-year undergraduate students as well as graduate students doing research related to migration, displacement, or diasporic communities, at any Canadian university. Presentations will be grouped together into panels based on similar topics.
The deadline to submit a proposal to present is March 22, 2022. Presenters will have approximately 12-15 minutes to present their research, followed by questions and feedback from the audience. MDS also welcomes proposals for full sessions if you wish to present with classmates or if you have another creative idea. The conference will be free for both presenters and participants.
To submit a proposal for an individual paper presentation or for a session, please email MDS.Student.Society@carleton.ca with the following information:
- Full Name
- Title of paper/presentation/session
- Approximately 200-word abstract
- University
- Program
- Location and time zone on the day of the conference
Presenters will not be required to submit a full written version of the paper in advance of the conference. Any questions about the conference may be directed to MDS.Student.Society@carleton.ca.

- March 31 – Notification of acceptance
- April 15 – Schedule for the conference available
- April 29 – Conference
