Book launch at IDRC: Refugee Research in an Age of Displacement

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN), based at Carleton University, would like to invite you to a panel discussion and launch of “Mobilizing Global Knowledge: Refugee Research in an Age of Displacement”, edited by Susan McGrath and Julie E. E. Young. The book launch will take place on 10 October 2019 from 12:00 – 2:30 at IDRC (8th floor, 150 Kent Street, Ottawa).
The book is an edited collection that reflects on the 10-year experience of the Refugee Research Network and its work in conceptualizing and building a global network for refugee research, conducting ethical research on forced migration, and amplifying voices from the global south. It captures and reflects on how to build networks for knowledge production and mobilization, what was accomplished and the challenges of bridging silos, sectors, regions and engaging across global north-south tensions. The event features a discussion of the key themes of education, big data, and environmental displacement.
The event will be introduced by Arjan de Haan, Director Inclusive Economies at IDRC, and moderated by James Milner, Professor Political Science at Carleton University. The two editors of the book will be part of the panel.

Le Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI) et le Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN), basé à l’Université Carleton, aimeraient vous inviter à une discussion en groupe et au lancement du livre “Mobilizing Global Knowledge: Refugee Research in an Age of Displacement”, édité par Susan McGrath et Julie EE Young. Le lancement du livre se déroulera le 10 octobre 2019, de 12h00 à 14h30, au CRDI (8e étage, 150, rue Kent, Ottawa).
Le livre est un recueil édité qui reflète les dix années d’expérience Refugee Research Network et son travail de conceptualisation et de construction d’un réseau mondial de recherche sur les réfugiés, menant des recherches éthiques sur la migration forcée, et l’amplification des voix du sud global. Il capture et réfléchit sur la manière de créer des réseaux pour la production et la mobilisation des connaissances, sur ce qui a été accompli et sur les défis liés à la mise en parallèle des silos, des secteurs, des régions et à la résolution des tensions nord-sud. L’événement comprend une discussion sur les thèmes clé de l’éducation, du Big Data et du déplacement de l’environnement.
L’événement sera présenté par Arjan de Haan, directeur, Économies Inclusives au CRDI, et animé par James Milner, professeur de sciences politiques à l’Université Carleton. Les deux rédacteurs du livre feront partie du panneau.
