Dr. Francesca Ruisi holds a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies (Hons), a Master’s in Social and Institutional Communication Science (Hons) and a European PhD (Doctor Europaeus) in Sociology (Disc) from the University of Palermo. Ruisi is currently Manager – Data Analysis at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) where she also serves as Part-time Lecturer/VIVA examiner/Dissertation supervisor mainly focusing on vocational education, research methods and policy oriented analysis.
Dr. Ruisi was previously Full Time Researcher at the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) – University of Jordan where she was Instructor of post-graduate courses aimed to provide professionally oriented research skills for refugees in host countries while also coordinating the Professional Diploma in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.
Beyond her work with LERRN, Ruisi has been coordination and management team member for externally funded research and higher education providing projects. In details, she was Project Coordinator, GIZ JOSY (New perspectives through academic education and training for young Syrians and Jordanians); Assistant Co-Investigator, MIDEQ (GCRF South-South Migration, Inequality and Development Hub); Project Manager, HOPES (Higher and further education opportunities and perspectives for Syrians); Assistant Co-Investigator, FOCUS (Forced Displacement of Refugees And Host-Community Solidarity.); Assistant Academic Coordinator and External Expert, POWERS (Peace, War and the World in European Security Challenges); Assistant Coordinator, EUROMESCO ENI project (Euro‐Mediterranean Political Research and Dialogue for Inclusive Policy making Processes and Dissemination through Network Participation). Her main research interests are vocational education and empowerment, social network analysis, big data and mixed social methods, migration and refugee studies.
