I’m a second year Global and International Studies student, specializing in Global Migration and Transnationalism. At this time, my academic interests are still quite broad, but I do gravitate towards Canadian immigration history, gendered approaches to forced migration, and the decolonization of academia. In my spare time, I can usually be found playing sports, curled up with a book, or trying out new recipes.
My interest in this field stems primarily from my family’s experiences as Cambodian refugees. I’ve had the privilege to grow up listening to firsthand accounts of forced migration, and stories of their struggles have inspired me to pursue a career that seeks to improve these conditions.
So far with LERRN, I’ve worked alongside Rachel McNally to support the publication of working papers and an analysis of the Journal of Refugee Studies. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from these tasks and am amazed every day at how well this team maximizes each person’s strengths, allowing everyone to meaningfully contribute to such an important organization.
