Mustafa Hoshmand, originally from Afghanistan, is based in Istanbul, Turkey. Mustafa is the Lead Country Researcher in Lebanon for the Evaluation of Refugee-Led Organisations in the Middle East at the Centre for Lebanese Studies (CLS). Mustafa holds an MSc in Quantitative Economics from the University of Glasgow. His lived experience as a refugee in Iran has always encouraged him to support refugee communities. His experience of working with refugees began in 2016 when he started to volunteer with a local NGO, working on the well-being and empowerment of refugees in Istanbul. He also served as a project manager within that same NGO which provided educational and social events for unaccompanied Afghan, Iranian, and Syrian minors. Moreover, he provided volunteer interpretation services to many other local and International NGOs in Turkey.
