Sohaila Khaliqyar
Project Communications and Social Media Coordinator
With over five years of digital media communication experience in non-profit organizations focused on human rights, I believe that social media has immense power to bring people closer together and create a more peaceful world. I worked with marginalized communities to share their stories of hope and dreams through digital media. And every day, I could see the way that these stories resonated with people around the world to broaden their worldviews and create connections with people they would otherwise never have learned about.
I am passionate about breaking down barriers through social and digital communications and enthusiastic about working with organizations committed to creating a more just world. My passion and work experience led me to join the LERRN team in Canada, where I believe it will equip me with new skills, expertise, and knowledge.
Before joining LERRN, I worked with the UNICEF communication team in Afghanistan, George Brown College, and the Livelihood project. I volunteered with several refugee agencies in Canada. I am interested in writing and photography. Currently, I am a MA student in the Communication and Culture program at York University.
