Childhood Kitchen
Memories of the Childhood Kitchen
March 13/2022
Almost no memories of childhood kitchen in London, but have many clear memories of home in Tecumseh where I moved when I was about 10 years old.
Why this is so I have no idea because my life up until then was happy and full of adventure and many great friends. My immediate family of mom and dad and 2 brothers is full of vivid memories, mostly good and some not so good. Regularly going to church (jacket, shirt, and little cap with crossed union Jacks), followed by Sunday school- with musket pistols tucked into out suit jackets. Later to have pirate fights on the outside fire escape stairs and ladder.
Beautiful stained glass windows that definitely caught my attention with the vivid colours, especially dark purple, emerald green, and ruby dark red that exploded so startingly in the bright sunshine. I remember a sense of happiness and warmth when just gazing at this. After church, lunch at the Three Little Pigs restaurant, which was a big deal for a kid of 6, or 7. Then home, where all of our friends were waiting. Each of the three of us seemed to have a gang of friends. I remember thinking that some of them wondered why we did go church.
No matter, out of our Sunday clothes then on to the adventures of the day. Like Alligator in our front yard- The rules of which are, and were, very hazy.
I’ll return to my childhood kitchen at a future date.
