A list of potential external supervisors can be found below. You may need to do some research to find their primary organization, lab website, recent publications, social media presence, etc. to get a sense of their research areas. Then reach out with the email template to explore potential supervision.
Note, you are not limited to exploring potential supervision with researchers on the list below. You can also browse through profiles of researchers associated with the department as well as attempt to make your own connections. For the latter, you must email the Undergraduate Chair with the researcher's name and nature of the project in order to get approval.
Option 1: When discussing potential supervision with a researcher outside of Carleton you can ask them if they currently collaborate with a faculty member in the Department of Neuroscience. If so, that would be the first person to approach about co-supervision. If they do not, then you can ask a neuroscience faculty member who does similar research.
Option 2: Ask the Undergraduate Chair to serve as co-supervisor for administrative purposes only.
---
If the potential supervisor is outside the Department of Neuroscience but still works at Carleton (e.g. Biology, Health Sciences, Psychology) then a co-supervisor is not required. However, you still need to run the nature of the project by the Undergraduate Chair for approval.
If you have connected with a potential external supervisor and are unsure of next steps or want to verify the nature of the project is appropriate, please contact the Undergraduate Administrator.
