Carleton Lowers Flag in Respect of Toronto Collision Victims

April 24, 2018

Dear Members of the Carleton University Community,

The news of yesterday’s incident in Toronto that resulted in 10 fatalities and 15 injured, leaves us all feeling shocked and saddened. Though we are members of the Carleton community, many of us are from Toronto, or have family and friends that live or work near yesterday’s van attack. It was an incident that felt too close to home.

The flag on campus has been lowered to half-mast in memory of those who lost their lives yesterday. We mourn alongside Toronto as they try to resume their everyday activity.

Sincerely,

Rafik Goubran
Acting President and Vice-Chancellor
Vice-President (Research and International)
