Carleton Professor Appointed to Health Canada Scientific Advisory Committee
Carleton University’s Jason Jaskolka, professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, has been appointed to Health Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee on Digital Health Technologies (SAC-DHT) for a two-year term.
“I am honoured to participate in Health Canada’s SAC-DHT and contribute to strengthening Canada’s global leadership in cybersecurity research, awareness and advancement, especially in the emerging and impactful area of digital health technologies,” said Jaskolka.
SAC-DHT provides Health Canada with timely scientific, technical, medical and clinical advice related to the regulation of digital health technology. Involvement of the scientific, medical and consumer communities in the regulatory review process enhances transparency, provides an opportunity for external advice and improves the device review process.
Jaskolka’s research spans cybersecurity evaluation and assurance, security by design, software engineering, distributed systems and formal specification and verification, with applications including critical infrastructure, cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). Prior to joining Carleton, he was a U.S. States Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University, where he worked on critical infrastructure cybersecurity. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
