Carleton to Celebrate 400 Years of Black Excellence in Canada

Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Afro-Caribbean Mentorship Program (ACMP), in collaboration with the School of Social Work, Equity Services and the Black Student Alliance, present the Black History Month event Still Standing: 400 Years of Black Excellence in Canada – an evening of performance, panel discussions and guest speakers.

Christo Bilukudi, former NFL defensive end and Ottawa Community Housing ambassador, will deliver the keynote address.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at 5 p.m.
Where: Woodside Hall, Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa
Info: This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and available online.

The evening’s expert panel will include CTV Ottawa journalist Stefan Keyes, Brandon Hay, founder of the Black Daddies Club, and Prof. Melissa Redmond from the School of Social Work.

The celebration will include performances by Sigma Beta Phi Inc. (Carleton and University of Ottawa chapter), Ryan Ofei and Just Jamaal the Poet.

Refreshments will be provided.
