Carleton Vigil to Honour Victims of Tehran Plane Crash

January 8, 2020

Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend a special vigil to remember the lives of all the victims of the Jan. 8, 2020 Tehran airline tragedy.

Fareed Arasteh, PhD student in biology, and Mansour Pourjam, biology alumnus, were aboard the Ukrainian airliner that crashed killing all 176 passengers and crew, including 63 Canadians.

“The Carleton community is a caring one and we support each other in good times and in bad,” said President Benoit-Antoine Bacon. “Universities across Canada have been devastated by the loss of students, faculty, staff and alumni; as we honour Fareed and Mansour, we will also pay homage to all of the victims of this terrible tragedy.”

The vigil is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020 in the Tory Building foyer, one week after the terrible crash. Condolence books will be available to sign.
