The Psychology Let’s Talk Lecture was created to raise awareness and combat stigma around mental illness and topics that are usually not talked about. The lecture, given by Prof. Erin Reid with the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, is geared towards gender and career.

Why is there still gender inequality in corporate and professional workplaces? One widely-shared and simple story centres on time—that women have more problems than men with the long hours of  work. Drawing on research from a consulting firm, Reid debunks this story and explains how both men and women have trouble with long hours, but that the firm permits women less control over their time than men, perpetuating gender inequality. Reid discusses some ways that leaders can solve this problem.
