Hurrelmann serves as a co-director of Carleton’s Centre for European Studies. His scholarly work centres on the politics of the European Union and his research focuses on political discourse about European integration, democracy and legitimacy in the EU, and Canada-EU relations. He teaches in the areas of EU politics, comparative politics, and democratic and state theory.
