Howard Nemiroff Appointed Dean of the Sprott School of Business
Carleton University President Wisdom Tettey and Provost L. Pauline Rankin have announced Dr. Howard Nemiroff’s appointment as Dean of the Sprott School of Business for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2025.

“Howard has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and dedication to advancing Sprott’s academic excellence and industry engagement,” said Provost Rankin, who chaired the search advisory committee. “His commitment to fostering innovation, expanding research collaborations and enhancing student opportunities will continue to drive Sprott forward. Thank you to the members of the Decanal Search Advisory Committee for their dedication to this process, and please join me in congratulating Howard on this well-deserved appointment.”
Nemiroff has served as Interim Dean of the Sprott School of Business since September 2023. During this period, he has led the faculty through a successful Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) re-accreditation process, supported the development of a new Bachelor of Accounting degree that will launch in Fall 2025, and expanded program offerings across undergraduate and graduate levels.
“I am honoured to continue leading the Sprott School of Business for the next five years,” said Nemiroff. “Sprott is driven by an incredibly dedicated team. Together we are fostering a learning environment that nurtures compassion, imagination and purpose.”
Nemiroff is an Associate Professor of Finance. He completed undergraduate studies at Western University and holds a master’s degree in economics and a PhD in finance from Concordia University.
Prior to taking on the role of Interim Dean, he served as the Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs, in the Sprott School of Business after having served as Sprott’s Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies for 10 years where he led continuous improvement initiatives for Sprott’s undergraduate programs and served as the chair of the Senate Committee on Curriculum, Admission, and Studies Policy (SCCASP).
