Student Journalist Guidelines

The Department of University Communications may assist student journalists when time permits. Before reaching out, check the Carleton website for existing information.

All media inquiries, including requests for statements from staff or leadership, must go through the Media Relations team. Contacting other departments or administrators directly can delay response times.

Include your deadline, topic, questions, and required information in your initial email to the Media Relations Officer.

Responses may take 24 hours or more. We respond Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Requests received outside business hours will be addressed the next working day, time permitting. Last-minute or assignment-related requests may not be accommodated during busy periods.
