Tim Patterson is a professor of Earth Sciences. He utilizes paleolimnological techniques to understand northern lakes from the perspective of: 1) the influence of natural and anthropogenic climate change on aquatic ecosystem services (AES), particularly the link between climate and lake hydroecology; 2) the impact of anthropogenic degradation (e.g. influence of mining) on AES, and 3) the degree to which lake remediation efforts are successful in improving AES.
