Job Description: This postdoctoral fellowship provides an opportunity for a trainee to develop as an independent researcher as well as grow and contribute to MS Pillar research initiatives. The trainee will work with the MS research group under the primary supervision of Dr. Lisa Walker, Neuropsychologist (TOH) and Clinician Scientist (OHRI) in the Cognitive Health in Multiple Sclerosis Research Lab, and in collaboration with Dr. Mark Freedman (Director, TOH MS Clinic; OHRI Senior Scientist) and other members of the Ottawa Hospital MS Clinic (affiliate of the Canadian Network of MS Clinics). The uOBMRI MS research group includes a large group of clinician researchers and basic scientists all working toward a better understanding of MS from diverse perspectives. Ongoing research represents a spectrum that includes examination of cellular mechanisms and immunological markers to applied clinical research. The group has attained recognition for its multi-disciplinary projects evaluating both biomarkers and clinical outcomes of stem-cell therapies. We would like to build upon this momentum to nurture further collaboration between bench and bedside researchers. The primary aim of the fellowship is for preparation of funding applications that foster such partnerships. In addition, the fellow will participate in ongoing initiatives that may include: an MS Clinic cognitive screening program, designing of cognitive fatigue interventions, assessment of outcomes following mesenchymal stem cell therapy, examination of cognitive outcomes following exercise interventions, and other related initiatives.

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience): • PhD in Psychology, or related field in the Social or Health Sciences. • Commitment to MS research • Strong record of academic training, proven research experience, the demonstrated ability to work independently, and leadership potential Preferred Qualifications: • Strong methodological and analytical skills • Experience with SPSS or related software • Excellent scientific writing and verbal skills in English • Prior MS research experience (or related area)

Contract Details: Salary: $20.512/hour, $40,000 per annum (minimum annual stipend). There is an entitlement to Health and Dental Benefits, 2 weeks paid vacation and 12 paid sick days per year.
