Title: Postdoctoral fellowship at the Shani Stern’s lab. An exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and to work with real families impacted by a devastating genetic disease.

Project description: Study the functional and cellular alterations in neurons derived from patients with autism spectrum disorder using iPSC and organoid technologies.

Description of Laboratory: The Shani Stern’s laboratory for Precision Disease Modeling uses multiple differentiation techniques to derive different types of human neurons and other brain cells, as 2D cultures and 3D organoids, from patients with neurological disorders. We use electrophysiology (whole-cell patch-clamp, multi-electrode arrays, and imaging of calcium transients), computational modeling, combined with molecular and cellular methods to look for mechanisms underlying disease states of the human brain with the goal of improving treatment.
