Carleton Officially Launches Sustainability Plan on Nov. 4

October 28, 2020

To all Members of the Carleton Community,

I am pleased to announce the official launch of Carleton’s new Sustainability Plan: Strive for Sustainability. We will be marking the occasion with an online community event on Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. and we hope that you can join us. You can register here.

The new plan builds on Carleton’s history of sustainability and considerable strengths in this field. To date, Carleton has reduced its carbon emissions by 35 per cent and has received zero waste certifications related to dining services. Over recent years, Carleton has developed a number of new sustainability-focused undergraduate and graduate programs, and has established the Centre for Advanced Building Envelope Research and the Human Building Interaction Lab. These accomplishments have made Carleton a leader in environmental and sustainability action, ranked second in Canada by UI Greenmetrics World University Rankings.

Strive for Sustainability aligns with Carleton’s new and exciting Strategic Integrated Plan (SIP), which was launched earlier this fall. With support from across our community, we can realize a more sustainable future both on and off campus, with Carleton leading the way. We encourage you to review the plan and consider how your work and actions can make a difference to our community to ensure that we collectively Strive for Sustainability.

Have a wonderful day,
